Stuttgart/Berlin – Matthias Schweighöfer is celebrating success as an actor, as a fashion designer, he’s just taking his first steps. In collaboration with designer Kilian Kerner, German MTV moderator Joko Winterscheidt and Sebastian Radlmeier from Paso Music, Schweighöfer has founded the t-shirt label German Garment. Today, Kerner presented pieces of the quartet’s first collection along with his own brand at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
Confident and full of anticipation, Matthias Schweighöfer, Joko Winterscheidt and Sebastian Radlmeier drove up to the red carpet on Bebelplatz today in a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé. After a short backstage detour to meet partner Kilian Kerner, they took their front-row seats to enjoy the show. “It’s an amazing feeling to see your own creative ideas on the runway while directly experiencing the audience’s reaction. Of course, it’s especially great to have the opportunity to present our first collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, which is now among the world’s largest and most important fashion events for international buyers,” said Schweighöfer. Following the German Garment concept, all of the collection’s t-shirts for men and women are entirely produced in Germany – including the fabrics, which are specially woven for the brand.
As a newcomer to fashion design, Matthias Schweighöfer made a point of visiting the Mercedes-Benz designers at their designo stand in the lobby of the event tent after the show. There he found out from the seasoned design specialists about the process that they follow in designing a new Mercedes-Benz model. Afterward, the creatively inclined actor spontaneously reached for the coloured tapes used in this process and began to trace the design of the new E-Class Coupé on a large display.
